Gleason Corporation, the worldwide leader in gear technology, has released the first technical reference of its kind, the Gleason Gear Encyclopedia.
Authored by Dr. Hermann J. Stadtfeld, Vice President of Research & Development, the 462 page encyclopedia has been more than five years in the making. Divided into two major sections, English/German and German/English, it is a thorough compendium of technological terms used in the Gear Engineering and Gear Manufacturing Industry. The Encyclopedia includes proper technological terms, formulas, definitions and appropriate translation in both languages. Numerous color Illustrations, diagrams, formulas and photographs serve to better define the specific terms. In addition, there are two smaller volumes containing useful Conversion Tables and Factors and a Gleason Technical Poster Gallery.
The Gleason Gear Encyclopedia is an invaluable reference tool for gear engineers, mechanical engineering students, gear manufacturers or anyone working in the gear manufacturing industry, as well as those working on the supply side of the gearing industry. The Encyclopedia is the result of years of research and the collaboration of four people working in conjunction with Dr. Stadtfeld to make the first ever Gear Encyclopedia in the world a reality.
“The Gear Encyclopedia is a logical progression of one of my earlier works, the Gleason Gear Dictionary. This time, I wanted to provide the industry with a much more comprehensive and easy to use reference book that will be beneficial not only to gear engineers, but to the gear industry as a whole,” stated Dr. Stadtfeld.
In addition to the Gear Encyclopedia, Dr. Stadtfeld has authored other works relative to the gear industry including: Handbook of Bevel Gears (1993), Bevel Gear Technology (1994), The Gleason Gear Dictionary (1994) and Advanced Bevel Gear Technology (2000).
The premier issue of the Gleason Gear Encyclopedia is available in two formats; a hardbound edition at a cost of $50.00 each or a digital edition in CD disk format at a cost of $35.00 each. The Gear Encyclopedia is only available from the Gleason company store at www.gleason.com
