Hydraulic Workholding
Hydraulic workholding fixtures have excellent radial and axial run-out accuracy and provide high clamping forces. They are wear-resistant and protected from contamination, perfectly suited for soft, hard, wet or dry machining. Available for Gleason machines and machines of other manufacturers, for gear and non-gear applications.
Gleason Hydraulic Workholding Benefits at a Glance
- Uniform expansion over the entire clamping length.
- Excellent radial concentricity of up to 2 µm.
- Self-centering to the clamping diameter.
- Rigid construction, resistant to vibration.
- Sealed systems with little maintenance requirements.
- Protected from contamination.
- Multi-piece/multi-zone clamping.
- Suitable for thin-walled workpieces, without distortion.
Always the Right Solution
The choice for hydraulic or mechanical workholding fixtures depends on the specific requirements of each application, such as workpiece type, machining task and level of automation.
How Hydraulic Workholding Works
The increase of oil pressure inside the clamping system is either actuated manually, by draw rod of the machine, or by direct oil coupling. As the clamping system is pressurized, the clamping sleeve expands within its elastic range up to 0.3% of its diameter.
Keeping the Pressure Up
To ensure that your hydraulic workholding system always works perfectly, Gleason has set up special service stations for vacuum filling of hydraulic workholding fixtures in key locations. With the e-Ticket Tooling System you can easily and conveniently submit requests for vacuum filling services.
