Gleason’s GMM Series of Analytical Gear Inspection Systems now can be equipped with a powerful new Windows® based applications software suite called GAMA™ (Gleason Automated Measurement and Analysis), and the Renishaw SP18H Probe, making GMM the fastest, most user-friendly inspection systems in their class.
Both GAMA and the Renishaw probe system are available for the full line of GMM Series systems, which range from the 175GMM (175 mm gear diameter capacity) to the 3000GMM (30000 mm capacity). It’s standard on all new systems, and available as an upgrade for existing systems (formerly known as SIGMA) built as far back as 2001.
GAMA operating software is a Windows® based application that, for the first time, puts a host of features right at the fingertips of the operator in a simple, highly intuitive graphical user interface (GUI). The time it takes to create new part inspection programs, and conduct a complete analytical inspection of even the most complex bevel and cylindrical gears, is greatly reduced.
In addition, GAMA is a true Windows® VB.NET application, making it fully compatible with the latest LAN and WAN networks, so that users can easily interface inspection results with their gear design and production resources for corrective actions downstream.
Other important GAMA features include:
- All programming/editing accomplished with simplified Windows® Applet Editor.
- The ability to support almost any language and to easily edit language text files for localized terminology requirements.
- The availability of configurable security levels for part origination, editing, calibration, machine configuration and network access.
Among the most important features of the GMM upgrade package is the use of a Renishaw SP80H 3-D scanning probe, available with various stylus sizes, configurations and extension lengths. The Renishaw probe provides a high speed, high accuracy measurement capability vastly superior to 2-D probe systems used by other systems. Among its most important features are:
- Industry-leading probe travel: +/- 2.5 mm in the Y and Z direction, +/- 1.5 mm travel in the X axis.
- A 20nm resolution, fully digital 3-D scanning head.
- A kinematic probe mount system, integral to a probe crash protection system.
- Convenient Repair-By-Exchange Program, readily available through Renishaw® in all major markets.
In addition to its next-generation of GMM Series Analytical Gear Inspection Systems, Gleason M&M Precision Systems Corporation also offers customers throughout the world’s gear production industries a host of other products including functional gages, software, automation, calibration and other services, and an A2LA Gear lab.
