Gleason Gear School

The Gleason Gear school originated in one of Gleason’s tool manufacturing operations 80 years ago. Today, Gleason’s Gear School is available in different formats from in-person to online training classes, but still lives up to its original promise: providing fundamental gear technology training with focus on cylindrical gears.

Gear technology experts will explain gear theory, nomenclature, and the appropriate math, as well as required manufacturing and inspection methods for cylindrical gears. Manufacturing demonstrations on the shop floor will accompany the theory.

Join the original Gear School in one of Gleason’s manufacturing facilities, Gleason’s “Gear School on the Road” in a city close by or participate in Gleason’s Virtual Gear School via live stream.

Participants

The Gear School is intended for “anyone” interested in learning more about the world of gears. The course is regularly attended by people in all aspects of the gear manufacturing processes; including purchasing, sales, engineering, and manufacturing. The course starts with basic topics and builds on them to give students a full understanding of the basic building blocks of the gear industry. Upon leaving the Gear School, students should have enough knowledge to identify different types of gears, gear cutting tools, and processes used everyday in the gear industry.
